水道筋商店街で暮らすということ｜迷路の奥のディープな魚屋さん

The Headquarters Kobe は、水道筋商店街のアーケードの中に建っています。玄関を出て徒歩1秒でメインストリートです（笑）。「商店街の中に住む」というのは実際どういう暮らしなのか、この記事ではその一端を紹介します。
雨の日も傘がいらない生活圏
アーケードの中に住む一番の実利は、雨です。梅雨で外の予定が全部止まるような週でも、買い物は一切濡れずに完結します。

商店街には、表通りを歩いているだけでは絶対に見つからない「ディープゾーン」があります。今日はその一角にある魚屋さんを紹介。
知らなかったらまず辿り着けない迷路の中にあって、並んでいるのは活きのいい品ばかり。この日は海老が跳ねていました。
ハウスの屋上ではバーベキューをやるので、ここで魚介を仕入れて海鮮バーベキュー、という組み合わせも狙えます😊✨
商店街は「暮らしの延長」になる
住人は買い物だけでなく、商店街のイベントにボランティアとして参加することもあります。店の人と顔見知りになると、暮らしの半径が家の外へ少しずつ広がっていきます。「駅前にスーパーがある」のとは違う、商店街の中に住む面白さはこのあたりにあります。

The Headquarters Kobe stands inside the covered arcade of Suidosuji shopping street. Step out the front door and you’re on the main street in literally one second (ha). What is it actually like to live inside a shopping arcade? Here’s a glimpse.
A daily life that never needs an umbrella
The biggest practical perk of living in the arcade is rain. Even in a week when the rainy season cancels every outdoor plan, all your shopping happens bone-dry.

The arcade is lined with cheap, fresh ingredients — it’s a big part of why so many residents here cook for themselves. There’s even a hot-spring bathhouse nearby.
The hidden fish shop deep in the maze
The shopping street has a “deep zone” you’d never find just walking the main drag. Today’s introduction: a fish shop tucked into a maze of alleys, stocked with seriously fresh catch. The day this photo was taken, the shrimp were still jumping.
Since we do barbecues on the house rooftop, picking up seafood here for a seafood BBQ is a very real option 😊✨
The arcade becomes an extension of home
Residents don’t just shop here — some volunteer at the shopping street’s events. Once the shopkeepers know your face, the radius of “home” slowly expands beyond the front door. That’s the difference between “there’s a supermarket near the station” and actually living inside a shopping street.
