シェアハウスでは共有部分が住人にとって重要な価値なので、キッチンの環境をできるだけ使いやすくしようと思っています。
大きいオーブンレンジ（30L容量で300℃までOK）を買ったら置き場所に困り、これまでホシザキの業務用横型冷蔵庫の上に並べていた器具達が雑然としやすかったので、冷蔵庫の上に棚を設置することに。しかしなかなかサイズが合うものがないのでDIYすることにしました。近所のコーナンで「ツーバイ材」を購入し、屋上で組み立てました。

まずコレ↓がBefore。

設計して、材料を買いだしして（なんとコーナンからハンドキャリー！重かったｗ）、切って、組み立て。

材料はSPF木材の1X4（ワンバイフォー）の6Feet（約1.8ｍ)が１６本！
１本が約1.5kgなので合計24kgぐらいです💦

↑この状態で肩に担いで、近くのコーナン灘大石店から登りの坂道を1.1kg、大変でした💦
いつもは軽トラを借りるんだけど、戻すのが面倒なのでハンドキャリーに挑戦したのがアホでした、もうやりません笑

In a share house, the common areas are hugely important to the residents, so we’re always trying to make the kitchen as functional as possible.
After buying a big oven range (30L capacity, goes up to 300°C), we suddenly didn’t know where to put it. The gadgets we’d been lining up on top of our Hoshizaki commercial fridge were already looking cluttered, so we decided to build a shelf above the fridge. Since we couldn’t find one the right size, we figured we’d just DIY it. We picked up some “two-by” lumber at our local Kohnan hardware store and put it together up on the rooftop.

First, here’s the “before” shot.

We designed it, went shopping for materials (and yes, we carried it all by hand from Kohnan — it was heavy!), cut it to size, and assembled it.

The materials were sixteen pieces of SPF 1x4 lumber, each 6 feet (about 1.8m) long!
Each piece weighs about 1.5kg, so that’s roughly 24kg in total 💦

↑ Carrying it all on our shoulder like this, we walked about 1.1km up the slope from our nearby Kohnan Nada-Oishi store — it was rough 💦
We usually borrow a small truck for this kind of thing, but returning it afterward is a hassle, so this time we thought we’d try carrying it by hand instead. Total mistake. Never again, haha.

↓ Here’s the design. We worked out a joinery method that lets us build the whole thing using nothing but 1x4s, keeping it as simple as possible.
