🇬🇧 English translation follows the Japanese text below.

A while back, A left us to fly off to Africa, but The Headquarters Kobe was quickly able to welcome a new resident in! Here’s how the welcome party went 😊 I really think welcome parties matter for a share house, yeah.

The guys took over the kitchen for the prep work

For some reason this time it turned into a “guys crowding the kitchen” kind of day lol

  • Residents lined up at the kitchen counter prepping food

  • A resident in purple rubber gloves filleting a fish

  • Residents cooking together in the kitchen, seen from the hallway

  • Two residents working at the sink under a rack of hanging pots

  • Four residents in a row along the kitchen counter, all cooking

Yabucchan’s sea bream, turned into carpaccio and sashimi

Yabucchan came back from what looked like a fishing trip and brought us a gorgeous sea bream!! Thank you!! We turned it into carpaccio and sashimi and it was so good.

  • A resident grinning as he holds up two large fish

  • A resident plating up food at the kitchen sink

  • White fish carpaccio, fried food and sausages laid out on the table

Emma and Kimutaku on takoyaki duty

Emma, the only girl in the mix, teamed up with Kimutaku — not sure if he was helping or just getting in the way lol — to get the takoyaki going

  • A resident in a black T-shirt chopping cabbage

  • Two residents posing for the camera beside a pot and a head of cabbage

  • A resident in a white shirt tearing cabbage by hand

  • Two residents leaning over a takoyaki griddle to fill the moulds

DK, the resident head chef, handled the fried food

DK (our high schooler), our resident head chef, had the most unreadable expression on his face lol, but he whipped up some delicious fried food for us.

  • A resident in a dark green shirt pulling a face at the camera

  • Three residents turning to look at the camera in the kitchen

  • Two residents messing around with hands locked beside the kitchen

  • A resident holding a plate of fried food and throwing a fist forward

Eating together as a group always tastes better. Split the cost of ingredients between everyone and it comes out to just a few hundred yen a head (though Yabucchan’s sea bream did a lot of heavy lifting there lol). Dinners like this are honestly one of the best parts of share house life.

Takoyaki cooked on the hotplate next to a plate of fried food

After dinner, somehow an arm wrestling tournament

After it all wrapped up, somehow it turned into an arm wrestling tournament lol, more like a “who’s actually the weakest” showdown 😅

  • Two residents arm wrestling at the dining table

  • A resident half out of his chair, straining in an arm wrestle

  • Two residents laughing and rising out of their seats mid-match

  • A resident kneeling on his chair to force the arm wrestle down

  • One resident pinning the other's arm as he slumps onto the table

  • Two residents facing each other and laughing once the match ends

Man, share house life is the best 😆 Honestly, everyone should just live in a share house lol
