５Fの照明を変えてみた
ハウスに手を入れるのはどうしても何かが壊れたとか問題があった時の修繕が多くて、雰囲気が変わるようなものはなかなか出来て無かったんだけど、久しぶりにやってみたよ

みんなが一番集まる５Fリビングの蛍光灯を外した

これはみんなが一番集まる５Fのリビング。リビングはシェアハウスのコミュニティとしてのコアだから居心地が大事。前にソファのレイアウトやカバーを変えたけど、照明はずっと以前からあったオフィス型の蛍光灯ベース（富士形といわれるタイプ）で殺風景だったんだよね

それをオシャレな感じにしてみました。👇️これが。。。

蛍光灯とそのベースを外して、ダクトレールを設置して電球色の照明をたくさん吊ってみました。
使って写真の撮り方がちがうんだけど雰囲気は伝わるかな（撮るならカバーを整えればよかったｗ）。

エジソン電球型LEDと壁を照らすスポットライトを選んだ

照明はLEDのエジソン電球型の照明と、壁を間接照明的に照らすスポットライトを使ってみました。次のようなやつです。

個人的には色温度の高い白色よりも電球色のほうが落ち着いてパーティなんかも楽しくなると思うんだけね。リビングの方はリモコンで調光・調色ができます（なのでちょっとお高いｗ）
以前にクリパや住人のアイデアでキャンドルトーク会とかやってたから、そういう時に照度落としてムード作ったりもできるようにね

ハンガーという部品でもとの吊りボルトを活かせた

実はこれ、ずっとやりたかったんだけど、なんか難しく感じて後回しにしてたんだよね。。蛍光灯ベースもすぐ外れたし、レール設置もどうしようか考えてたんだけど、ハンガーという小さな部品があってそれを使えばもとあった吊りボルトを活かせるとわかって意外とすんなりできました。系統接続だけ資格ある人に頼んでやる必要あったけどね。
もっと早くやればよかった笑

ちなみに照明を取り付ける時は、身長194cmあるイギリス人のF君が手伝ってくれました。日本人男子平均の僕だと椅子に乗ってもせいいっぱい手を上に伸ばさないといけないんだけど、彼は楽にやってましたね笑。そして頭にぶつかるからとコードを短く調整してました😂　彼は生で見るとほんとにデカい笑。オオタニサンと1cm違い。

We changed the lighting on the 5th floor
When we work on the house, it’s usually because something broke or there was a problem to fix, so we rarely got around to doing anything that actually changes the vibe. But this time we finally gave it a shot after a long while.

Taking down the fluorescents in the 5th floor living room

This is the 5th floor living room, where everyone gathers the most. Since the living room is the core of the share house community, how comfortable it feels really matters. We’d already changed the sofa layout and covers before, but the lighting had always been this old office-style fluorescent fixture (the kind called a “Fuji shape”) that made the place feel pretty bare and uninviting.

So we gave it a stylish makeover. 👇 Here’s the before…

We removed the fluorescent light and its base, installed a duct rail, and hung a bunch of warm-colored bulbs from it.
The photos were taken a bit differently so it’s hard to compare directly, but hopefully you can still feel the change in mood (if I’d known, I would’ve tidied up the lamp covers before shooting, lol).

Choosing LED Edison bulbs and wall-washing spotlights

For the lighting itself, we used LED Edison-bulb-style lights along with spotlights that indirectly light up the walls. Something like these.

Personally, I think warm-toned light feels more relaxing than cool white light and makes parties more fun too. The living room lights can be dimmed and color-adjusted with a remote (which is why they were a bit pricey, lol).
We’ve had Christmas parties and candle-talk nights that residents came up with before, so now we can lower the brightness and set the mood for that kind of thing too.

A part called a “hanger” let us reuse the existing suspension bolts

Honestly, this is something I’d wanted to do for ages, but it always felt like a hassle so I kept putting it off… Turned out the fluorescent base came off easily, and while I was wondering how to go about installing the rail, I found out there’s a small part called a “hanger” that lets you reuse the existing suspension bolts — so it actually went pretty smoothly. Though we did need to have someone with the proper qualifications handle the electrical wiring.
Should’ve done this way sooner, lol.

Our 194cm British resident helped with the install

By the way, when it came time to install the lights, F, our British resident who’s 194cm tall, helped out. For an average-height Japanese guy like me, even standing on a chair I had to stretch my arm all the way up, but he handled it with ease, lol. He even had to shorten the cords so he wouldn’t bump his head 😂. Seeing him in person, he really is huge, lol — only about 1cm different from Shohei Ohtani.
