🇬🇧 English translation follows the Japanese text below.

The study room we recently renovated ourselves (DIY-style) is already getting good use from our residents. With more people working from home because of COVID, and more universities and high schools moving classes online, it feels like living spaces built around remote work and remote study are only going to matter more going forward. Since shared spaces are such a big part of what makes a share house valuable, it’s definitely something we need to keep thinking about.
H, studying for his exams in the study room
The photo below shows H, hard at work studying. He moved in when he was in his third year of junior high, and now he’s already a third-year high schooler gearing up for exams. Time really flies!
Curious what he was studying, we took a look…

Looks like English. And on YouTube, of all places (lol).
When we asked him about it, he said it was “super easy to understand.” Makes sense, really — a seasoned cram school instructor is bound to teach more engagingly and clearly than the average school teacher. Keep it up!!
Three floors, with shared space making up more than half
By the way, The Headquarters Kobe has three floors — two are mainly private rooms (each with a washroom/laundry area and toilet), and the entire third floor is shared space (study room, kitchen, dining area, living room, toilet, shower, and bath). If you count the hallways too, shared space makes up more than half of the whole building, which is honestly a pretty huge proportion.
